about me
For over 15 years I have been photographing in caves and on caving-expeditions around the globe. Over the time I specialized in documentation during ongoing research.
My ambition is to show ‚what is hidden beneath our feet‘ and thus create awareness that this fragile eco-system needs protection.
Research results are not only presented as talks for professional audiences, such as speleologists‘ congresses in Austria, Spain and Ireland, but also as AV-Shows for a broad audience (e.g. Kendal Mountain Festival/ DAV-Vortragsserien).
Some of my pictures can be found in professional journals (e.g.: Die Höhle/ The Decent/ Irish Speleology) and books (the Geology of Darkness) or the Speleo-Projects caving calendar.
In 2014 I became photo ambassador for Pentax Germany. In the same year a series of pictures could be seen at the booth of Pentax at the PhotoKina tradeshow.
Since then I have been testing and documenting equipment as expedition photographer for various companies under the extreme conditions of caves e.g.: for Bosch Professional (cordless drill, Picos de Europa, Spain), Alpkit (camping equipment, Dachstein/Papua New Guinea) or Fischer (anchoring systems, Dachstein).
Another focus is surveying and the creation of digital cave maps using specialised cave mapping software (Therion) for varoise projects. This includes digitalising old paper surveys ans sketches.
All that is wrapped up with digital area maps (Qgis) and cave databases for field research needed for expeditions.
Many Thanks
to the countless helpers and supporters. Without you none of the photos and caveing trips would be possible!
I am really lucky that so many people supported me over the last years. By this I mean not only the support for actual caving trips, but also the numerous assistance with technical problems, the support of sponsors, and the good advice for great caving trips.
Many thanks to all of you!
